Sodom, the Decadency Sword, is back

Image
If gay unions are legally allowed, we are swinging Sodom, the old Decadency Sword, where 'personal freedoms' were institutionalized. Sounds dramatic, but with the US Supreme Court ruling , humankind has once again taken leave of its senses by ignoring the tried and tested balloons of convention; the opposite sex of full age, not a blood relative, and monogamy that served to keep the old sword at bay. Instinctively, we yearn for the old convention. On the other hand, our kaleidoscopic world has surreptitiously allowed the sword to evolve into a 'human rights' thing while promoting convention over the old construct is consigned to a 'trampling-on-one's-personal-freedom' issue. The Sodomite gushes forth like a living thing. Not the natural-selection I'll-be-a-monkey's-uncle-overtime-type living thing - but living water that you drink. We are witnessing the return of the three-winged seraph. As its flutter's consistency resonates again, we aba...

Apostasy and Democracy

Image
The apostasy prohibition is the 'hidden' encumbrance to a Muslim leader who places Islam in the public domain.  The Arab psyche is in a cage. On one hand, they are born into a religion that prohibits them from leaving at the risk of death. On the other, they yearn to experiment with democracy, a construct b ased on personal freedom, freedom of religion inclusive. A construct that challenges the underlying prohibition. Morsi installed a Sharia-centric constitution in December 2012 but resisted turning Egypt into a full-blown Islamic state. He experimented with democracy and embraced its institutions. A Muslim leader in a Muslim majority state must choose between placing Islam in the public domain or keeping it private. Keeping it private, as in Azerbaijan and Malaysia, allows for a secular constitution, whereas placing it in the public domain demands a Sharia-centric constitution and its enabling institutions. Otherwise being encumbered with such prohibition himself, a ...

13 • Black Sabbath • A GRIM appraisal

Image
Preamble:- Previously, I said about a come-back that went ahead without Jon Anderson that "if you can't pick a sucker in the listener within 20 minutes of a YES journey that isn't up to par, chances are, the sucker is you."  Musically, 13 retains its 'Anderson' element, but still, it is mystifying as to why the thing is at #1 on the Billboard. The only plausible explanation could be that Sabbath witch-heads were awaiting the bat-eating prodigal to return to the father; and finally, it did! 8-foot tall burning wicker by Spencer Jenkins - shot by Jonathan Knowles End of the Beginning  ∆   Refreshed in the sensibility of a New World Order beta, yet remains in the sentiment of the old decadency sword, Iron Man.   ∆ God Is Dead?  ∆     At the turn of the last century, thick in the belief of a Darwinian monkey god, Friedrich Nietzsche comfortably proclaimed that 'God is dead'. Hitler picked up on it and, with moolah from Ro...

Papago P3 • the witness to your next incident

Image
A KE35 I owned in the seventies came with a factory-fitted air conditioning system. The in-dash cooler was a boast then as low to mid-range cars, to which the Toyota belonged, had coolers hanging below the dash if you desired. Four decades later, the witness to your next road incident is hanging like a hernia on the windshield while luxury models have them factory-fitted. Mindful that by 2015 , black boxes  will be mandatory  for new cars sold in the US, and  driving recorders will be mandated worldwide thereafter. The 'hernia' will disappear once Black-boxes are factory-fitted Papago’s P3 looks like a miniaturized old CRT but records the vitals. Over the weekend, I was pulled over for speeding, where the officer armed with a scribbled notepad announced with authority that I was gunning 93 in a 60 zone. I politely said that scribbling vital evidence in the 21st century is quaint, if not archaic. Since it was too much for him to pee...

"This brender has many funsen" • Premier Super-G

Image
Premier Super-G  "This brender has many funsen" is a euphemism for the fold-out, disguised as an instruction manual that comes with several mass-produced kitchen appliances from Asia. But Sivanesan's Premier Mixers Instruction Manual caught my attention with its unique font and 4-colour layout. The manual's syntax and grammar provide a glimpse into the features of the product it describes. The Premier Super-G mixer is genuinely a work of art with its rinse and dry stainless-steel jars, imposing ABS shell encasing an overkill 550-watt motor, and the 'BMW' switch knob. It's not just a blender; it's a juicer. Creaming a tomato and carrot with goat milk in just 5 seconds is easy, and crushing a bowl of almonds is an understatement. If you're inclined towards almond milk juice, forget the small jar. Just add a handful in the middle jar with milk and ice. 10 seconds later, you have a delicious and healthy drink. Another 10-second 3-glas...

What Would Christ Do (or Say)?

Image
Riding on the public relations debacle of Innocence of Muslims, the effort of one Nakoula Basseley, a convicted fraudster, the renowned Edward Tyler Nahem Gallery in New York is ‘without fear and favor’ featuring the work of Andres Serrano, a bonafide artist whose claim to fame is his controversial and ‘fearless’ portrayal of “Piss Christ” that debuted in 1989 and that was funded by the equally celebrated National Endowment For Arts. The artwork, which features a photograph of the crucifix submerged in Serrano’s own urine (as he submitted), has Christians clamouring awkwardly for moral equivalency with Muslims, given the “double standard and religious hypocrisy” of the Obama Administration who publicly apologized to Muslims for Nakoula’s work while staying conspicuously silent on Serrano’s. On a tangent, let us ask the rhetorical question! What would Christ do (or say) about his followers getting their knickers in a knot? He would say to ‘blaspheme him’ is a misnomer simply...
