Alex Peters • Santana • Samba Pa Ti
The focus of Alex’s passion is not the Mexican maestro but the Fender that belonged to one Cheng Ly-Moung, a 15-year old Cambodian pilot killed in action in the 70s. The Cambodian-teak guitar, buried throughout the war, was refurbished and re-fretted at the wish of the pilot’s brother to make it sing again.
The 2-bar prelude is a ‘crying’ tribute to the deceased fighter pilot, extricated from the bowels of his favorite possession.
