Moderating Comments @ Lim Kit Siang

Preamble: The reason moderation is employed by any responsible blog master in Malaysia is that censorship and detention laws drill down to clamp the ‘oblivious’ poster about which the master in Uncle Lim is obviously concerned.

Unpublished comments between July 15th 2011 to July 31st 2011:-

For the record, the following comment I made (uploaded Friday, July 22nd 2011) was not published in Clara Chooi's Scorpene post hosted on the blog of Uncle Lim Kit Siang:- "The perpetrator is not quite the sociopath that possesses charm and spontaneity. It has none. It is not quite the sociopath that plans ahead its acts. It does not. The act upon the lass was borne of ignorance that the trail would result in a stripping thereof by a Machiavelli looming in the background; the one who commissioned the investigation not to be commissioned; the one who told the world about mademoiselle’s destruction; the one who revealed the stones of Jacob as he slowly but surely breaks the legs of her demolisher and who regards a wound as an opportunity and two wounds as two opportunities and who will eventually lead the homeland like Niccolo said he will."

Another unpublished comment (uploaded Tuesday, July 26th 2011) on Clara Chooi's post on the prospect of Nazri Aziz debating Uncle Lim: "Nice but unfair. Uncle Lim has the moral advantage, but he is void of doctrine. Morality is a condition. Indoctrination is a force. Although indoctrination constrains one’s ability to opine, one who is sufficiently indoctrinated can turn babble into seemingly reasoned opinions. Uncle starts off with the confidence of a matador. He posits a question and develops a discussion, but his opponent engages the host in another discussion without a lead and turns heavy babble into a ‘reasoned opinion’ and scores a winner between Uncle’s legs - from behind - and when the tweed is reminded of the confusion of his dribble by the host, he posits another question to Uncle’s initial one making everyone forget the original discussion. With his opponent's ‘home ground’ advantage, Uncle will find himself in a paradise of fools. Prove me wrong, Uncle. Kick some ass. I remember his pointed pun to Uncle Karpal’s condition not long ago.

Another unpublished comment (uploaded Friday, July 29th 2011) on Richard Loh's post on the subject of the 'Third Force'. "A woman’s bosom has been the downfall of many a Chinese empire. The seat of power is appropriated by patient Machiavelli; the one who commissioned the investigation not to be commissioned; the one who told the world about mademoiselle’s destruction; the one who abetted the nation its breathing space to impel agenda 709; the one who revealed the stones of Jacob; the one who regards a wound as an opportunity and two wounds as two opportunities; the one who will lead eventually the homeland like Niccolo said he will. Everyone else, I’m afraid, is commentary."

Update. My comment (on Richard Loh's post) was published after it was edited and re-uploaded on Sunday, July 31st 2011. "A woman’s bosom has been the downfall of many a Chinese empire. The seat of power is being appropriated by patient Machiavelli; the one who commissioned the investigation not to be commissioned; the one who told the world about mademoiselle’s destruction; the one who abetted the nation breathing space to impel its ‘clean’ agenda; the one who revealed the stones of Yakob; the one who regards a wound as an opportunity and two wounds as two opportunities; the one who will lead eventually the homeland like Niccolo said he will. Everyone else is commentary."

However, these comments were published here on July 28th 2011:- Denzel Washington transcends racial barriers. He cannot ‘blacken’ his script no matter how hard he tries, resulting in his roles being swappable with every Cruise, Pitt, Chou and Chan. He did not create the ethnic-neutral genre through acting lessons. An inherent character flaw enables him to turn his wonderful character into a subliminal teaching device. Lim Kit Siang transcends racial barriers. He simply does because the longest serving politician in the Malaysian Parliament has a similar character flaw … the complete article.

Here on July 22nd 2011:- "The whole thing reminds me of Bertolucci’s The Conformist, set in fascist Italy, where the director employs a clever use of shadow and light, in particular the breathtaking forests scenes with sunlight streaming in between the trees. It’s all the more spectacular because some nasty events occur behind the façade of the sanitised fascist. In the narrative, we find Clerici, the ‘conspirator’ who just wants to live a normal life and follows his instincts and gets married. I’ll digress. Justice K.A.P Ranasinghe, the dissenting voice in the Abas Tribunal, stands proud. His fellow members are overlooked and, fortunately for them, largely forgotten. Some time ago, a boy was awarded an award for gallantly rescuing a girl from drowning. A politician asked that the effort of the teenager be glossed over, but the apathy of the throng by the pool witnessing two lives at risk, be highlighted instead. The politician said it was an inherent human impulse that moved the boy to protect the life of a fellow human being. Ranasinghe is no different from the boy. Salleh Abas's rights were challenged, and he stepped in. He displayed ‘nothing extraordinary’ in supporting a beleaguered brother, and for that, he is remembered. The tribunal report stands as a tribute to the Sri Lankan. The composition of the Teoh Commission is analogous to the Abas Tribunal, save that a Ranasinghe is found wanting, but then fortunately for its members, the passage of time will ensure that the conformist, who traded the damning red flags in the proceedings for an unreasonable standard of proof that would have otherwise convicted the perpetrator, will be largely forgotten."

Here on July 21st 2011:- “July is a wicked month for our Prime Minister who is without partisanship from his own nation, leaving him stung and ridiculed by the international media. Although still distilled from tin-pot leaders in the East, our Prime Minister is fair game. I’ll digress. When Truman engaged his nation in an unpopular war in Korea that killed thousands of his own people, his opponents trashed him. They called him a ‘son of a bitch’ but added that he is ‘OUR son of a bitch’. The conjunction is the operative. It signals solidarity and coalescence that indirectly discourages unsolicited interference. Dato’ Seri Najib is Our Prime Minister. The conjunction is the keystone to partisanship. It signals unity and offers reprieve to make good.”

Here on July 21st 2011:- "Little Siti was able to explain how meritocracy trumps affirmative action. At a Hari-Raya party, the little girl said she wants to be Prime Minister when she grows up. Her parents, both UMNO members, were flush with pride. I asked Siti, “If you were Prime Minister, what is the first thing you would do?” She replied, “I would give food and houses to the homeless in Leboh Ampang. I pity them.” I said,
” It’s a beautiful gesture, but why wait until you are Prime Minister. Come to my house, wash my car, and do my Christmas spring cleaning. I will pay you 10 ringgit. Then I will fetch you to Leboh Ampang, and you can give a homeless man 10 ringgit to buy food and save towards his new home.” The little girl looked up to her parents, seemingly for an answer, and replied, “Why don’t you ask the homeless man to wash your car and spring-clean your home and pay him the 10 ringgit?” I replied, “Siti, you are amazing. You will be an effective Prime Minister. You welcomed meritocracy and trumped affirmative action.”

Here on July 18th 2011:- “Ahmad Razak, thank you for finally emerging and allowing us to convey our appreciation. The clip of you with your little flag ballast against the dastardly spray is an absolute gem. The other Kodak moment is Joe kneeling with arms outstretched with brothers solidly behind. When I’m in Temerloh next, I will look you up, if you’re inclined, to discuss the science of refuting false allegations of our mainstream media, whose credibility has been on the wane for the past four decades. You see, Ahmad, showing up after one week is pretty cruel. You placed mainstream in a spot. You now have its nuts. Your emergence has turned a ‘factual’ position with a potentially vibrant lifespan into a self-inflicted allegation of junk mainstream reporting in seven days. Your emergence essentially smears the entire mainstream and individuals associated with it. Your honourable position with PAS has coloured the proceedings with a hue of ‘green.’ Shame on you, Ahmad. The mainstream has only one route with ‘green’ and the new ‘black’. Cajole you until capitulation. Simply put, they will use institutions to ask you to compromise your position. It’s the way in Malaysia. Almost everyone has a price. One reason I love being Malaysian, besides beer, bicycles and rock and roll, is that the dash of excitement always follows an element of surprise. You and your party provide both. Ahmad, let me tell you a story. I know a PAS contractor. He isn’t a member, neither is he Muslim. Offered a plum contract, he enveloped a wad of cash to the Joe, who facilitated the deal, but to his surprise, the envelope was politely returned to him with a tea and cake session to boot. Until then, the contractor was not able to fathom what ‘a fair exchange’ meant within the doctrine of your party vis a vis the party in power. Muslims and Non-Muslims alike are proud of what you did on July 9th. Protecting fellow Malaysians and I am not ashamed to say that even your sisters were at the forefront in Pudu unwittingly giving me refuge behind them. Beers, Ahmad Razak. I’m having one on you.”

Here on July 17th 2011:- “Dr. Bakri’s commentary and the 25-article Cairo Declaration, ratified August 1990, are linked. Article 25: “The Islamic Shari’a is the only source of reference for the explanation or clarification to any of the articles of this Declaration” Article 24: “All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to the Islamic Shari’a” The above renders the preceding 23 academic. Ratified by Malaysia without permission of Parliament, the declaration is simply a promise amongst members to install the Islamic legal code in their respective countries. This promise was underscored in September 2010 when the Turkish OIC Secretary refreshed the organization’s commitment to it.”

On July 15th, 2011:- “Dear Dr. Bakri, a heavy read deserves a preamble, and I found a hook there. “While the Shari’a represented a quantum leap in the achievement of early Islam, in its present form, it is clearly incompatible with many of today’s universally accepted norms, particularly concerning human rights, criminal justice, public law, gender equality, and other areas.” Well said, Dr, and given your stature, no apology to modern-day Muslims, let alone the literalist, is required.”

Here on July 15th 2011:- “Keep one eye on the higher register where a bigger elephant sits at the keyboard – The Wahhabi funded media that nestles in our midst, juxtaposed with our staid love all serve all Sufi. The former will embarrass the latter at every turn to the point of civil unrest. It utilises the democratic platform to usurp democracy the latter fights for.”

Here on July 15th 2011:- “Keep the fascist closer, Mr Samad. Embrace it. Sophie Scholl, the Facebook in Hitler’s days, did. The sooner it realises that the people’s poet will not succumb to its groupthink, the sooner it will dis-invite the stand-alone.”
