'Tuhan' or 'Allah'

Which term, Tuhan or Allah, would an evolved Christian in Malaysia adopt?

Despite the convergence and historical application of the latter, it is not the job description of a peaceful Christian to clamour, at the risk of social unrest, for his 'lost' vocabulary, just as it would compromise the Hindu sentiment of 'peace' and 'detachment' should the world's oldest religion lay claim to The Kaaba, that was in existence during the period the Arabian peninsula was part of Vikramaditya's Hindu empire, but that is another story.

As a Hindu, an evolved Christian is a 'condition' rather than a 'force.' He has no business, let alone capacity, to confront a threat. His ability is limited to reason, common sense, and, perhaps, points of law.

Over time, the term 'Allah' has lost its biblical meaning in contemporary Christianity, just as the universal term 'God' had gained prominence over 'Gott,' its original expression that once referred to a dwelling place of an idol, but that is yet another story.

The point is, as a Christian evolves, he adopts terminology invested with his intended expression while leaving behind 'lost' and 'irreparable' ones, and if perception is indeed a marketing strategy, applying a substitute infused with a distinct biblical meaning would allow a Muslim to understand the true nature of his Christian brother, his Bible and his biblical God, just as the 'surrendering' of Islam's holiest shrine, presumably, allowed its founder to comprehend the true nature and benevolence of the previous empire.

Which term, Tuhan or Allah, would an evolved Christian in Malaysia adopt?

Words - Tommy Peters

Postscript: - (1) The distinction between the dogmas underlines the dissimilarity between their prophets in that one strives to prove the unproven God construct. At the same time, the other claims to be the Lord himself. (2) Given that a 2010 ruling favoured the Christians and resulted in a spate of church burnings, evolved Christians are obliged to 'turn the other cheek' to avoid another upheaval. Given that a lot more tangible has been historically usurped from him, this surrendering involves mere vocabulary, not his soul. From another angle, the reading of the Court can be viewed as a 'dog-whistle' designed for the 'canine' ear. The message is not meant for the public but directed to a quill breed of 'holy men' gathered outside the halls of justice, asking them to stem their charge and spare civil society their veritable nuisance. The judgment serves as a tool that appeases the radical rather than instigates the civilian. (3) The video below is a snippet of recent research "interpreting traditional contexts of historical evidence and rereading passages of the Qur'an. The (European) researchers in this thought-provoking volume unveil a stunning and highly unconventional picture of the very foundations of Islamic religious history", and (4) The (green) image below is intended to provide comic relief to the die-hard dogma driven.

Quote: - "This research does not undermine the basic tenets of Islam, but it does provide interesting questions. As people of the twenty-first century, we as Muslims should look at the research, not just condemn it. Let us also see if this research has a historical base or is a product of European orientalism."
